Marilyn K Blair is new to the world of  fiction writing, having written her first contemporary fiction novel in 2022 at the age of 64. In 2023, she published Iris and Mo, the first novel of her collection, The Eastport Series. Marilyn takes a unique approach with the main characters in this series. They all are of a mature age, in other words, they would all qualify to live in an over-55 community. While they are older adults, they are not living life on the sidelines. They are people who are in it, doing things: traveling, learning, discovering talents they didn’t know they had, making friends, falling in love. And despite their age, people who were still struggling with some of the same things they did when they were younger – figuring out their place in this world, who they are, what they want to do with the rest of their lives. Through humor, drama, and a splash of passion, Marilyn weaves her tales using a thread of faith that ties the characters and the series together to answer the question, “Where do I belong?”

Marilyn grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, moved to the suburbs in her teen years, and spent most of her adult life in two small suburban towns. Upon graduating from college with a B.S in Music Education, she spent the next ten years in the business world, before landing a position in her career of choice, teaching. She taught for twenty-five years in a private school, first as a music teacher. She went on to receive a Masters in Education garnering certifications in Elementary Education and as a Reading Specialist. At that point, she shifted gears and taught Language Arts for the remainder of her career. Marilyn continued to keep her hand in the music world, literally. She was the entire “pit orchestra” each spring for the middle school's full-fledged Broadway musical.

Marilyn is the Communications Director for her church home, where she also serves as a keyboardist on the worship team. She and her husband, Jim, have two grown daughters, and one son-in-law-to-be. Marilyn and Jim enjoy RV-ing across the United States and are looking forward to Jim’s retirement years when they can hit the road more frequently. Until then, they enjoy living in the beautiful Amish country of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where the sounds of blaring horns have been replaced by the clip-clop of horses hooves, and the nearby farms provide fresh fruits, vegetables, and the most interesting aromas.
